Position description:


IBTCI is currently seeking a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Expert for the USAID Kenya and East Africa Health Population and Nutrition (HPN) APHIAplus Imarisha Activity end of project evaluation. The Senior M&E Expert will be responsible for designing the overall evaluation methodologies, sampling strategy, qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques that include ability to triangulate findings from different methods.





The Senior M&E Expert will coordinate evaluation activities including training of data collectors, data collection, implementation, data management and quality assurance and other related tasks. S/he will develop the data analysis plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis, as well as actively participate with other team members during data triangulation, presentations and report writing. The Senior M&E Expert will prepare graphic presentations of quantitative data with state of the art data visualization techniques. S/he will contribute to report writing to ensure production and completion of an inception report and evaluation report in conformance with the scope of work, high-quality analysis, high writing quality and report integration. S/he will develop final evaluation report with quality assurance and timeliness of all deliverables.



Education: Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Sciences or related field


Language: English: Fluency in speaking, reading and writing required; Swahili highly desirable


Required experience:

  • At least 7 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a wide range of evaluation methodologies, qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques
  • Significant M&E research work experience in integrated HIV/AIDS, MNCH/FP/Nutrition/Malaria programming
  • Proof of participation in end of program evaluations is a must
  • Previous evaluation experience of a USG health program activities in Kenya, particularly in HIV/AIDS, FP/MNCH and WASH programs
  • Excellent verbal and written skills as well good organizational and team skills;
  • Experience working with the Ministry of Health and private health facilities desirable
  • Experience using MOH reporting tools
  • Experience with MS Office packages is a must
  • Experience in survey methodology such as LQAS
  • Demonstrated experience using statistical analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, R or SAS; as well as presentation of results
  • Experience in technical report writing
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
