Overview: IBTCI is seeking a Team Leader/Assessment Expert for the Wellness and Agriculture for Life Advancement (WALA) program. This is a short-term consultancy position based in Malawi and the U.S. The purpose of this contract is to 1) Determine the effectiveness of the WALA project with a desktop study followed by a rapid field assessment to verify and validate information gathered during this desktop study. 2) Examine the humanitarian response caseloads in the WALA sites to determine the size and volume of humanitarian aid. 3) Compare WALA sites with non-WALA sites to compare on resiliency measures.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:  

  • Serve as Team Leader and provide overall leadership to the team;
  • Finalize Assessment design, coordinate activities, and arrange periodic meetings;
  • Coordinate the process of assembling the final findings and recommendations into a high quality document;
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of the key Assessment findings and recommendations to the USAID / Malawi team and other major partners.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • At least 10 years of international experience leading Assessment teams, ideally for natural resources management (NRM) and/or climate change projects;
  • Extensive experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative Assessments;
  • Familiar with USAID regulations and systems including performance monitoring, gender policies and guidance, project management, budgeting and financial analysis, and reporting;
  • Experience in international donor development program management and overseeing multiple program areas simultaneously is preferred;
  • experienced in preparing documents that are objective, evidence-based, and well organized;

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of international experience leading Assessment teams, ideally for natural resources management (NRM) and/or climate change projects;
  • Extensive experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative Assessments;
  • Oral and written fluency in English required.

Working Environment: Corporate office environment as well as field work.

 

Education:  Postgraduate degree in an appropriate field required.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:  This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Travel: International travel required.
