Overview: IBTCI is seeking a Reporting Consultant to assist with reviewing and editing draft monitoring reports for the Syria Humanitarian Monitoring Program (SHMP). This is a part time position that will require 5-7 days of work per month. The period of performance is expected to be from December 5, 2017 to October 6, 2018.



Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:  

  • Reviews and edits draft site visit reports for substance and presentation.  
  • Provides suggestions for improvement of reporting formats, processes and protocols.  
  • Reports to SHMP COP.
  • Collaborates closely with SHMP staff in Jordan and Turkey. 
  • Serve as liaison on as needed basis with SHMP's monitoring partner organizations. 


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strict attention to detail.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Excellent writing, research and organizational skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in copy-editing.
  • At least 5 years of humanitarian experience.
  • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English required.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, humanities, or related field required.


Working Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment, with some time spent in the field.


Supervisory Responsibility:  This position does have supervisory responsibilities.


Physical Requirements:  This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.


Travel:  International travel may be required.
