  • Overview

    Overview: IBTCI is currently seeking an analyst for work under a monitoring and evaluation support services project funded by the United States Agency for International Development/Yemen (USAID/Yemen). The USAID/Yemen Monitoring and Evaluation Project II (YMEPII) is a multi-year project focusing on the provision of Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Research services across multiple development sectors in Yemen. Candidates should possess a successful track record in conducting thorough and accurate research, and producing detailed written deliverables.


    This is a short term-US based consultancy position, with an anticipated 45 day level of effort over a 3 month period of performance.


    Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:  

    The Analyst will provide overall research, analysis, and report writing functions for qualitative research products to inform USAID/Yemen decision-making and information needs. Specifically this will entail:

    • Assist in tailoring research and tool design to the current Yemen context.
    • Research data sources, identify key informants and conduct key informant interviews as assigned by Team Leader
    • Draft and review sections of research products in particular producing content specific to the Yemen context.
    • Adhering to U.S. Government, IBTCI, and local government rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
    • Delivering high-quality outputs in accordance with the agreed upon work plan and timeframe.



    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:                

    • Excellent research and qualitative and quantitative analysis skills.
    • In depth knowledge of Yemen, including a thorough understanding of the political, economic, and social context.
    • Excellent writing skills, specifically with producing deliverables for USG customers.
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills.


    Minimum Requirements:

    • At least 7 years of professional experience in conducting research, analysis, and writing reports, preferably in an international development or academic context.
    • Significant in-country Yemen experience required.
    • Demonstrated familiarity and work in conflict contexts required.
    • Oral and written fluency in English; native or near-native fluency in Arabic required, Yemeni dialect preferred.


    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Political Science, or a related social science field required. Master’s Degree strongly preferred.


    Supervisory Responsibility:  This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


    Working Environment:  Work is performed in a typical corporate office environment.


    Physical Requirements:  This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

    Travel: International travel required.
