    Job Title: Research Assistant

    Department/Location: Madagascar, Antananarivo

    Reports To: Team Leader

    Type: Consultancy


    Overview: IBTCI is seeking a Research Assistant for the United Nations’ World Food Program (WFP) to advise a team conducting Evaluations of WFP’s operation in Madagascar.  The evaluation will benefit the WFP country office and will take into accounting past and present activities in order to inform the development of new Provisional Strategic Plans on connection with the MAP’s Integrated Roadmap and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal. The period of performance is expected to be from around February 2018 through July 2018.  This position is contingent upon award.


    Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Support the WFP all four members of the WFP team
    • Conduct desk research on topics related to food assistance, climate change, gender, humanitarian principles, etc, within the Madagascar context
    • Gathering evaluation documentation from team members
    • Formatting and reviewing reports the team’s evaluations products



    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of food assistance programs is required
    • Research experience Data analyses
    • Presentation skills
    • Formatting reports and other documents

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Madagascar context knowledge is desirable
    • 5 years’ experience assisting multilateral donor projects and teams
    • Fluency in French is required

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Global Affairs, International Development or Monitoring and Evaluation related fields is required. Master’s degree in preferred.

    Working Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment, with some time spent in the field.

    Supervisory Responsibility:  This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


    Physical Requirements:  This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.


    Travel:  International travel may be required.
