International Business & Technical Consultants, Inc. Job Title: Team Leader                                     

Department/Location: LAC/ MENA/ S. Asia/ Sub-Saharan African Region

Reports To: Home Office Project Director

Type: Regular, Full-time

Classification: This is a managerial, exempt level position

 

Overview: IBTCI is seeking a Team Leader for the USAID- Securing Water for Food Activity. This is a long-term employee position that may be based in any of the four regions listed above, or the U.S. The purpose  of this contract could include (but are not limited to) improve technologies for irrigation, real-time water quantity monitoring, post-harvest water demand reduction, salinity reduction, and water reuse/efficiency storage activities within the food value chain. SWFF also seeks to support business and financial innovations that enable the increased adoption and dissemination of science and technology solutions. This position is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities

 Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide overall leadership to the team.
  • Oversee capacity building and training.
  • Manage the performance of monitoring and evaluation specialists to ensure all project targets are met.
  • Manage subcontracts and grants with local and regional partners.
  • Build partnerships and identify networks/ opportunities for collaboration.
  • Responsible for deliverables.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with implementing gender inclusive methods within developing country contexts.
  • Excellent understanding of the policy environment of the Founding Partners.
  • Experience evaluating Grand Challenge innovation programs.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including experience successfully interacting with host government officials, civil society partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Good writing skills, with extensive report writing experience.
  • Fluency in a second or third language desirable.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience leading evaluation teams.
  • At least 15 years of experience in M&E, with a focus on either institutional arrangements or water/ ag sector marketing in developing countries.
  • Demonstrable sectorial expertise in water efficiency and reuse, water capture and storage, saltwater intrusion (especially in coastal aquifers, deltas and estuaries) required.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills required.
  • Professional fluency in a second or third language desired.
  • Familiarity with United State Agency for International Development (USAID), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (MFA-NL), or the South African Department of Science and Technology (DST) required.

Working Environment: Corporate office environment as well as field work.

 

Education:  Post graduate degree in development or a related development field, such as Economics, Business, Statistics, Biodiversity Conservation, International Development, Public Administration, or other discipline related to development assistance required.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:  This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Travel:  International travel required.
